Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (5 g)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (2.5 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar (1.25 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder (1.25 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder (1.25 g)
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground mustard (0.63 g)
  • Dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 large potato, peeled
  • 1 quart ice water (950 ml)
  • 2 tbsp. oil for deep-fat frying (30 ml)
Instructions
  1. In a small mixing bowl, prepare the seasoning mixture by mixing the first seven ingredients and then set aside.
  2. Use a vegetable peeler to slice potato into very thin slices and place slices in a large bowl
  3. Pour ice-cold water into the bowl and soak potato slices for 30 minutes.
  4. Drain potato, lay on paper towels and pat dry.
  5. In an electric skillet, heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil to 375 degrees F. Fry potato slices in batches for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Immediately sprinkle with seasoning mixture. Store potato chips in an airtight container.
  8. Serve and enjoy these barbecue-flavored potato chips!
