- 1 teaspoon paprika (5 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt (2.5 g)
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar (1.25 g)
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (1.25 g)
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (1.25 g)
- 1/8 teaspoon ground mustard (0.63 g)
- Dash cayenne pepper
- 1 large potato, peeled
- 1 quart ice water (950 ml)
- 2 tbsp. oil for deep-fat frying (30 ml)
- In a small mixing bowl, prepare the seasoning mixture by mixing the first seven ingredients and then set aside.
- Use a vegetable peeler to slice potato into very thin slices and place slices in a large bowl
- Pour ice-cold water into the bowl and soak potato slices for 30 minutes.
- Drain potato, lay on paper towels and pat dry.
- In an electric skillet, heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil to 375 degrees F. Fry potato slices in batches for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Immediately sprinkle with seasoning mixture. Store potato chips in an airtight container.
- Serve and enjoy these barbecue-flavored potato chips!
